Her response that it's important to raise awareness of structural racism was bizarre. Is there any NEJM reader in 2022 who isn't aware that leftists believe structural racism is a key issue?

So... she should refrain from actually demonstrating how structural racism is injuring and killing black children disproportionately, because ask the readers are "aware that leftists believe that structural racism is a key issue"?

Isn't a big part of her job supposed to be trying to reduce avoidable death and illness?

"Uck, not another study showing how structural racism is killing people, we've heard it all a billion times, you bleeding heart liberals, so boring. It's like you expect us to do something about it if you keep mentioning it."

she has 4 degrees (3 from harvard, she'll have you know) in the field of anti-capitalism. what else do you expect her to do.

Who are you talking about?

"Some readers will be instinctively offended by this open discussion of health disparities. It feels too “woke” or whatever. Addressing health disparities is good, though, especially when it is done in meaningful—and not just symbolic—ways. I would say it is even one of the highest callings of government and public health."
